My name is Giovanna (but Gio for short) and I'm a photographer, filmmaker, and all-round creative.
I'm currently 21 years old, originally from Brazil, and I'm based in Brisbane, Australia.
Since I was a little kid, I knew my purpose in this life was to make art...I didn't know exactly what I would do, but I knew it would be something artistic.
So, what am I doing? Well, a bit of everything, honestly. But, I've decided to dive into photography.
I have been pursuing filmmaking and photography for about six years now. I started off on an iPod and iMovie, then the rest is history.
I am self taught with some assistance from my high school / university classes, my dad and brother who love digital media, and the good-old internet. I'm so grateful to have had really supportive friends to volunteer to shoot with me whilst I learnt and continue to learn. Thank you guys. Adding to this, I have a Bachelor's Degree in Creative Industries, majoring in Screen Production and with minors in Visual Arts & Entertainment. I told you I was an all-rounder.
Ok that's all great and all, but why this, why now?
I have wanted to start this little business venture for years, but felt too scared. What if I fail? What if I'm dreaming too big? What if ... well, what if I believe in myself now and I give it my best shot? This is that moment.
I love the way a good photo can make you feel empowered, beautiful, and confident. I think what truly made me think, "I wanna do this" is when after a photoshoot my model said something along the lines of how I made her feel beautiful and happy. That...well, I can't put into words how meaningful that is to me. If my craft can resonate so deeply with someone and make them feel good about themselves, I wanna keep doing it. It's a sort of love I want to show people.
I'm gonna be real with you, there are plenty of amazing photographers out there. However, I do know my diverse background gives me a unique perspective of the world and the stories I want to tell. I have so much to give and share, and I treasure every time someone trusts me enough to stand in front of my camera.
And I think that's pretty awesome.
Thank you for following along this journey of mine.
I think that's all for now.
Much love,
Gio
